The important question about getting married in Mauritius
Ile kosztuje ślub na Mauritiusie?
Most weddings in Mauritius cost between 2,500€ and 4,000€ for the couple only (excluding flights and hotel). Private island weddings are slightly higher, starting at around 3,320€, while simple beach weddings start from around 1,890€. Most couples then add some options like our help with the legalities, a bridal bouquet or a singer.
Is a wedding in Mauritius legally recognised?
Yes. Legal weddings in Mauritius are officially recognised in most countries. After the ceremony, your marriage certificate receives an apostille (official stamp), and you can then register it in your home country.
How long does it take to plan a wedding in Mauritius?
With the right setup, a wedding can be organised in just a few days. However, for legal weddings, documents must be submitted at least 3–4 weeks in advance.
What are the best locations for a wedding in Mauritius?
The north and west are more developed and accessible, while the east and south are more natural and quiet. For full privacy, private islands, villas, or boat weddings are the best options.
What Makes Weddings in Mauritius So Special?
The biggest difference compared to Europe is simple:
You don’t need a big setup for it to feel special.
Mauritius already gives you:
tropical beaches
warm weather
incredible sunsets
And most importantly: space and privacy
But here’s where many couples go wrong…
Most weddings organised through hotels take place in areas where other guests are around. People walk by, watch, sometimes even take photos.
That’s why we focus on something different:
weddings outside of hotels
private islands
quiet beaches
private villas
boats at sea
This gives you a much more intimate and personal experience.

We’ve already pre-selected all vendors and created ready-to-go options for:
flower arches

The most popular wedding packages in Mauritius:
Private Island Weddings

Best for: couples who want total privacy and a unique experience

Key advantage: you are completely alone
This is the only place in Mauritius where you can:
celebrate late into the night
have a beach party without restrictions
even stay overnight in a private villa on the island
Biggest misconception:
Most couples think this is extremely expensive.
In reality, it’s usually only about 1500€ more than a wedding on a public or hotel beach.
Beach Weddings (on Public Beaches)

Best for: couples looking for a simple, beautiful, and affordable wedding
Guest size: 2–15 people
Package Price: 1890€ if you are traveling without any guests
All beaches in Mauritius are public—but:

- Photos are taken in angles without other people
- Dinner setups are usually quiet and secluded

or have a BBQ on board
Legal Weddings in Mauritius (Simple & Recognised)
Around 85% of our couples choose a legal wedding.
The process is straightforward:
Before arrival
- Send us passport + birth certificate (by email). More details about the necessary documents.
In Mauritius
2 days before: visit civil status office with originals
Wedding day: legal ceremony
2 days after: we bring you the wedding certificate with the apostille (official stamp)
You receive your official wedding certificate in your hands before leaving.
All our couples have successfully registered their marriage in their home country.
French citizens have to wait longer to receive the wedding certificate (up to 1 year).
⚠️ Common Mistake to Avoid
The biggest issue we saw in the past 10 years was timing.
Some couples contact us only 1–2 weeks before the legal wedding.
This can make a legal wedding impossible, because the Mauritian civil status office needs 3–4 weeks to process your documents
☀️ Best Time to Get Married in Mauritius
Best months:
May
October
November
Also good:
December (but more expensive)
More rain risk:
January to March
If needed, we simply move the wedding to the next day.
Wind note:
East coast can be windy from June to August, the other months perfectly fine!
Real Moments Couples Don’t Expect
Some moments always stand out—not because they are dramatic, but because they feel very real.
Right after the ceremony, there’s often a quiet pause.
No music, no program—just a moment where couples realise:
they are married
they are in Mauritius
and there is no crowd around them
It’s usually the first time everything sinks in.
Another moment comes shortly after:
Once the ceremony is done, the pressure disappears completely.
Couples often arrive a bit nervous—especially about the legal part.
But once it’s finished, the whole atmosphere changes.
From that point on, it feels less like an event and more like:
a relaxed afternoon
a photoshoot
followed by dinner and celebration

A Real Story: When the Weather Didn’t Cooperate
In February 2023, we had a private island wedding planned with 25 guests from Germany.
That week, the weather was unstable—rain almost every day.
On the wedding day, it became clear in the morning that it wouldn’t work.
Instead of trying to push through, we made the decision around midday: postpone to the next day
This meant:
reorganising transport
checking availability with all vendors for the next day
replacing the photographer (who wasn’t available)
Luckily, the island was free the next day—and we quickly booked another photographer from our network.
The next day started the same: rain in the morning. But by midday, the weather luckily cleared.
The ceremony went ahead with mystic light, partially cloudy skies (perfect for photos) but completely dry conditions.
In the end, everything worked out—and the couple told us they were glad we didn’t go ahead the day before as they really wished for light and sun for their wedding photos.
Guest Experience
Most couples bring a small group of close family or friends. What they often plan:
catamaran trip the next day
small games in the evening
personal gifts for guests
Biggest challenge: logistics
Guests stay in different hotels, and return times vary (especially with children)
We handle this with:
multiple cars
flexible transport planning

❗ Honest Advice: What We Don’t Recommend
One thing we don’t recommend:
large hotel weddings with no privacy
In many cases:
other guests walk past
people watch the ceremony
the moment doesn’t feel fully yours
Why Couples Choose Us
Most of our couples find us through Google or recommendations.
And the reason they book is simple:
We make everything easy and personal
We are a small team of 4 women
Everyone knows every couple and their details
We reply within 24 hours
No waiting times
We also coordinate closely with vendors.
That means we can:
Ask the singer to learn your favourite song
Change the time of the ceremony the day before the ceremony
These small things often get lost in large hotel structures.
Final Thought
Many couples hesitate at first.
They think:
Mauritius is too far
The process for the legal wedding is too complicated
It’s cheaper to get married in our home country
But in reality:
Most are planning to travel for their honeymoon anyway
Mauritius simply allows you to combine:
wedding
travel
and experience
…into one.
If you’re thinking about getting married in Mauritius
Start early, keep it simple—and choose a setup that gives you space and privacy.
That’s what makes the biggest difference.
How far in advance should we book our wedding in Mauritius?
Most couples book between 1 and 12 months in advance. For legal weddings, it’s important to contact us at least 4 weeks before your preferred date so documents can be processed on time.
Do we need to stay in a specific hotel for the wedding?
No. You can stay in any hotel or accommodation you like. We organise weddings independently from hotels, which allows for more flexibility and privacy.
Can we personalise our wedding or is everything fixed?
You can personalise your wedding by choosing from our curated options such as flower arches, bouquets, photography styles, and music. This keeps the process simple while still allowing flexibility.
Co się stanie, jeśli w dniu ślubu będzie padać?
If the weather is not suitable, we usually postpone the wedding to the next day or the following day. This works well because most couples stay in Mauritius for several days.
Will there be other people at our wedding location?
On public beaches, there may be people in the distance, but your ceremony area is usually quiet. For complete privacy, we recommend private island, villa, or boat weddings.
How do we organise transport for our guests?
We arrange transport for all guests, even if they stay in different locations. This includes flexible return options, especially useful for families with children.
Can we celebrate after the ceremony (music, party, etc.)?
Yes, but it depends on the location. On public beaches, there are time restrictions. Private islands offer the most flexibility, allowing celebrations late into the night.
What documents are needed for a wedding in Mauritius?
You need copies of your passport and birth certificate in advance, and you must present the original documents in Mauritius before the wedding.
What is the best time to get married in Mauritius?
The best months are May, October, and November. December is also a good option but more expensive, while January to March has a higher chance of rain.
Can we have a private wedding in Mauritius?
Yes. Private island weddings, villa weddings, and boat weddings offer complete privacy without other tourists around.
